First of all, welcome to my blog. Hopefully my long spent hours researching and investigating the topics discussed here havent gone to waste, and you will find this information most useful.
In this first post I want to clarify what Search Engine Optimization (also known as SEO) really is. I am sure that you all heard of the term and just dying to find out my explanation of it. Basically I think it can be summed up to the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to your web site from search engines, in other words improving your ranking in the search engine results. The higher the ranking, the bigger the traffic. SEO can also be utilized for different kinds of searches, including searching for images, regional searches and searches on specific topics. SEO is closely related to Internet Marketing. To master SEO you need to understand how search engines work and what the people on the web are searching for. Because SEO envolves modifying sites structure and content it also helps to know at least the basics of HTML and site editing and management.
Well thats the basic description of what SEO is, I hope that this clarifies it to those that were confused, and reinforces it for those who already knew what SEO was.
